THE DiSC PROFILE to aid Communication and Team Building

  • but what happens if your style is different from that of your customers?

  • how can you know what is their preferred way of communication?

  • how do you know what is your own style?

COMMUNICATING  implies an exchange between more than one person. But most often we communicate from our personal perspective only.  Few of us are attuned to the perspective of our colleagues, friends and customers.  Like many other things in life we tend to communicate by DEFAULT.

Knowing your own

  • personal character traits 

  • preferred behavioral style

  • personal strengths (and yes, weaknesses)

  • value to the team

  • = BETTER Communication

Knowing your customer's:

  • personal character traits

  • preferred behavioral style

  • strengths & weakness

  • fears 

  • = OUTSTANDING Communication

Example: 

A passenger on a flight demands a drink. Is this because he/she is thirsty?

  1. Stressed?

  2. Afraid?

  3. Or might it be a character trait and natural behavioral style?

Which ever of the above it may be, knowing this person's behavioral style allows the person serving to augment their own behavior to make the passenger and customer more comfortable.

Being aware of character traits leads to
tolerance, better understanding, respect and less stress all round.
